Time for a Constitutional Convention

Given that both the Republican and the Democratic parties are wholly corrupt, and they are just 2 heads of a single corporate/imperial party (with the main difference that the Democrats wear more of a velvet glove and give an occasional token nod to the "little guy" and the less-affluent), how can we save America?

We need a new constitutional convention.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower said in 1963:
"Through their state legislatures and without regard to the federal government, the people can demand conventions to propose amendments that can and will reverse any trends they see as fatal to true representative government."

Can there be any doubt that there are numerous "trends . . . fatal to true representative government"? Vote fraud is rampant, both parties use false intelligence and false flag operations to justify their agendas, the administration is gearing up for an expansion of the Iraq war even though the overwhelming majority of Americans reject the Iraq conquest, most of the high-level politicans are corrupt to the core, and the Bill of Rights is being ripped to shreds through illegal wiretapping, torture, suspension of Habeas Corpus, etc. etc.

The voters "through the bums out" in the mid-term election, but the new majority has already indicated that it is a bunch of bums, too. The Democratic leadership has stated that Bush and his band of merry criminals will not be impeached. The chief congressional investigator has stated he will not issue subpoenas to investigate criminal wrongdoing. In other words, the Democrats don't intend to change anything important. Instead, the Dem leaders are going to focus on feel-good issues like raising the minimum wage which will do nothing to save America from the cliff it is racing towards.

A constitutional convention can fix the core problems. While different people will have different perspectives on what should be changed, potential constitutional amendments could:

- Make free and fair elections a constitutional requirement

- Prohibit the use of false flag terror and set up a Department to study and report on false flag operations throughout history, including the U.S., recommend ways to stop the practice, investigate 9/11, and bring the perpetrators of 9/11 to justice

- Make media accountable, ensuring a basic level of truthfulness in reporting

But this is impossible, right? No. In reality, groups from both the right and the left are calling for a new Convention (see also this blog).

The way it works is simple. A convention happens if two-thirds of the State legislators request it. Each state appoints a representative to attend the Convention. New provisions and amendments to the current Constitution are introduced and debated. Proposals are not adopted unless 75% of the states' representatives approve.

So write your state legislators today and demand a new constitutional convention.

In addition to the constitutional proposals listed above, I personally would champion 2 more:

- Repeal the harmful legal fiction that corporations are "persons", which allows them many of the benefits, but practically none of the responsibilities of real people

- Require that, in all decisions, the good of the next 7 generations of Americans be considered. This was in the Iroquois Constitution, upon which the U.S. Constitution was largely modelled, according to many historians.

Until the issue of Israel is dealt with, any further discussion of this topic is moot. The people who control that country, and quite possibly all jewish people in general are a bane to humanity. What you propose is slapping a band-aid on a cut when we know there is a terminal cancer in the body. They will not allow a new convention to occur.

A constitutional convention would be run by the Republicans and Democrats and we already have that miserable system.

How about we quit voting for the status quo and vote Libertarian or Constitution Party or Green or whatever just not the old partys.

How about state constitutional conventions without Federal intervention? People are not aware that each state has a constitution which defines its relationship with the Federal Government and have the right to question the powers and limitations of state national government.

All representatives should be picked by the citizens they are to represent as individual citizens and not political parties.

Each town could send a representative to a county convention. When a consensus is determined each county would send a delegate to a state constitutional convention reexamining the power of the Federal State. Time consuming yes. But people would have better access to their local grown representatives than on the federal and even level.

What is finally decided on would become, as all political decisions should, the voice of the people and their exercising control over the form of relationship they would want with the federal government. Reform one (the state) and the people would reform the nation and its partnership with other states and control of a less controlling central national government.

Instant runoff voting would enpower thrid parties.

If I had to bet on the probability of;

1. America fixing its problems before a total monetary crisis (either extreme inflation or extreme defalation)

or

2. America failing to fix its problems until After a money melt down.

I would bet on number two.

In fact I am betting on number two by buying silver, copper, and gold.

Oh, George. Such youthful enthusiasm for the political process. What gives you such ideas? I suspect a grand enthusiam for the very education that is designed to enslave you.

Free yourself first!

"A constitutional convention can fix the core problems." These are delusional thoughts.

Let me explain something to you.

The American Revolution's Declaration of Independence was written to insult King George III, and by the phrease, "all men are created equal," these signers meant they were the equal to King George of England. They proved that too, as within a short period of time after tossing all the Torries out, these men set up their own kingdom, splitting the power, and establishing in the King's place a bureaucracy that continues to this day to even more corrupt than the one it replaced.

"A constitutional convention can fix the core problems." is not looking the beast straight in the eye, George.

The core problem is human nature, greed, the desire of every man to be an Alexander, and a wholly fallible perspective on history, the place of man in this world, and the future that confronts us all.

Best! But the civics lesson in participatory democracy is something best left out in the classroom where they pay liars to shove it down your throat.

I've gone wholly anti-empirical.

I believe it is abhorrent that USA has come to a stage, where neither Republicans nor Democrats can offer solutions to America's problems, which BOTH parties have caused.

Republicans and Democrats iterate the same thing differently. They both agree on the same objectives, but differ on strategies and the little details!

Congress should be a reflection of all political colors of the country. Some belong to Green Party, Liberal, Democrat, Republicans, or Conservatives.

The either-or choice leaves many things intact, and offers a zero diversity.

Why bother with our 'representatives'. They have absolutely no motive for doing anything different than they are already doing. Let's just seceed and then form our own constitutional convention. If necessary, form a break away republic and leave the union altogether.

I see several huge problems.

1) I wish that my state's government (Washington State) could be as non-corrupt as is the federal government. Washington State government is as corrupt and filled with evil people as anyone can imagine. Maybe other states are also controlled by corrupt governments. If so, how would such corrupt legislatures sending representatives to a constitutional convention make things any better?

2) What would stop the constitutional convention from rescinding the bill of rights? I know, in practice the bill of rights is no longer in effect anyway, but at least we can presently claim that we have the right to bear arms. After a constitutional convention we may have lost the ability to make such claims.

3) Since the Repuglicans and Democraps control the state legislatures, what is to stop an amendment saying that only those two parties can exist? What is to stop an amendment calling for taxpayer funding of those two parties etc. You see the problem?

The answer is to stop recognizing the false authority our "government" claims to have over us. If it isn't in the constitution the feds are prohibited from doing it. That means that 90+% of everything the feds do is without legal authority.

The only thing wrong with the current Constitution is that it does not specify the death penalty for any Constitutional violations. Congresscritters can write a law that is later found to be un-Constitutional and nothing happens to the people who enacted the law that harmed people while it was in effect. Government officials should fear the possibility of violating the Constitution instead of always pushing the limits of the law they way they do now.

The Constitution doesn't need to be changed. As with 9/11, no new laws needed to be written to pursue whomever purpetrated the crime. The laws that exist are enough to bring the perps to justice. Everytime something happens, Congress thinks they have to write a pile of new laws to show the country they are doing something. As far as rewriting the Constitution, there are people trying to get the Constitution rewritten to allow Arnold Schwartzenegger on to the Republican presidential ticket.

Think about the real reason why someone would want to rewrite the Constitution. The original authors included checks and balances and more or less told the population not to trust the government.
Considering what President Bush and previous Presidents have done, the Constitution doesn't need to be rewritten, the bodies that perform the checks and balances have to step up to the plate and do their job.

Being a Norwegian, I should probably refrain from posting a comment on this matter, but I'll run the risk of being told to stick to matters closer to home.
It appears to me though, that something drastic must be done in order to move away from the obvious plutocracy prevailing in the US of A, but which a majority among the US voter seem to think and believe is a democracy. And to achieve this, a good start would probably be, to demand that no person will be allowed to cast their vote for any politician at all, unless they have read what Max Weber wrote about politics and politician, and have proved that they understood what they have been reading. ;-)

Excuse me, did you say a "constitution" or a "revolution"? I don't see how a convention involving the same band of thieves (even if they're nominally different, they'll still be drawn from the same pool of aspiring crooks) as we're trying to get rid of will accomplish anything positive. Won't it just give them an entre into the cookie jar that they now don't have?

What we need, like a constitutionl convention, and what we are likely to get are far apart. Perhaps the reason we need a constitutional convention is because the power created by money has been working hard for centuries to undo the constitution. Do you really think the people pursuing this agenda will allow America to restore its constitution? Read the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion. This is what they have in mind for us--not a constitutional convention.

A con-con is their goal - don't let it happen.

No party can act as stupidly and irresponsibly as the demopublicraticans have unless they WANT the public to demand sweeping change. And who will be in charge of making the changes? Most likely the folks who run the Demopublicraticans.

After all, the problem is not with the Constituion. It's with the globalist financiers who run our media, our schools, and our government, and who use this influence to pass unconstitutional legislation.

Don't let them completely destroy us with a Constitutional Convention.

The Constitution was written by better folk compared to what passes for pols in these times. Most current proposals for amendments would weaken the original. It's not the Constitution that needs changing.

It's past time to dump the two party system. Let the dust settle and then see what else is required in terms of flushing inadequate (I'm being nice here) pols.

the fiat monetary system duh-mock-rats and rethuglicans have established and support(minus a few)over the last century will collapse on it's own.

It collapsed during the depression and the people didn't realize why, so it continued with some new deal bandaids.

If you don't have "sound money", you are at the whims of who does. The government does not own Federal Reserve notes, it's a private entity.

Using an inflation calculator:

$26 dollars in 1933 has the same purchasing power as $399.60(avg) in 2006.

1oz. gold cost $26 in 1933 and has the same purchasing power as $600(avg) in 2006.

If you put 1oz. gold and $26 in a shoebox in 1933 and opened it today, wich would be worth more, $26 paper dollars or 1oz. gold...that is, wich has more "value"=purchasing power?

Take any year after 1913 and take any year of gold value, use an inflation calculator.

There is a reason precious metals are in the constitution.

I don't know if this CC can fly---the control is so enwrapped by those who are the principal players in the Military/Industrial/Governmental/
Alliance that I don't believe control can be pried from them.

I like the idea of changing the legislative body to include gender parity (50/50) and term limits (in one term and sit one out). But even if there were to be a CC, the powermongers aren't going to allow the passage --maybe even the mention-- of any legislative alteration that affects their patri-centric incumbencies or their profiteering. Power tends to protect itself first and foremost.

In essence, I do not see the likelihood of any meaningful change for American politics and the progression now is what those in the M/I/G/A are seeking most: long term international warfare.

They will not be happy until the conflict is raging out of control because it satisfies all their basic needs: power, secrecy, games, and profits.

We need to make the coming chaos work FOR the Revolution.

What we require is to re-engineer the entire global political economy at its moleculr level. Eg establishing the common ownership of information (every peasant to have access to every book/ piece of technical info ever produced on a $100 wind up wifi laptop from MIT) in exchange for the oil remaining turned on long enough (after the petrodollar has crashed) to effect the transition to solar powered microgeneration.

Hitherto every revolution (I myself come from the old Communist tradition) has failed because it emphasised the establishment of grand institutional architecture which could too easily be subverted by the law of gravity of plutocratic power in one form or another.

Instead we need a Revolution forged at the molecular level. The Common Ownership of Info & Solar Powered Microgeneration gives the sovereign citizen strategic power in depth, enabling them to establish control over the (energy based) currency as well.

Wheras the establishment of an inherently deflationary gold standard, can still be decoupled by a new federal reserve coup (establishing a new fiat currency), repeating the nightmare which humanity will not survive a 2nd version of.

The coming chaos (with the collapse of the petrodollar) will bring about a social revolution in security, which must be consolidated by the establishment of the common ownership of info (to keep the oil turned on long enough to effect the transition to) which must be consolidated by solar powered microgeneration. THIS consolidates citizens control of the currency - giving the citizenry the power to bring their forces to bear in real time.

NOT some congressional committee that can so so easily be bought of with bribes blackmail & sex parties.

fnnezLet's re-read the decleration of independance and the constitution for starters. Congress gave itself the same power as King George III. read article 1 section 8 and you will see. Article 2 section 1 also holds another piece of the tyranical power running rampant here in these united States of America. Then read article 3 section 1. You will see that after the 1830's we have had no costitutionally elected president, in the 1860's congress had no authority since the southern states walked out. And if the 9 justices are being held under the thumb of puerto rico trust company #62 (IRS) while in office then the supreme court is not a article 3 court. for grins I am posting a few things that will ruffel a few feathers.

The First World War must be brought about in order to permit the Illuminati to overthrow the power of the Czars in Russia and of making that country a fortress of atheistic Communism. The divergences caused by the "agentur" (agents) of the Illuminati between the British and Germanic Empires will be used to foment this war. At the end of the war, Communism will be built and used in order to destroy the other governments and in order to weaken the religions."
"The Second World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences between the Fascists and the political Zionists. This war must be brought about so that Nazism is destroyed and that the political Zionism be strong enough to institute a sovereign state of Israel in Palestine. During the Second World War, International Communism must become strong enough in order to balance Christendom, which would be then restrained and held in check until the time when we would need it for the final social cataclysm."
"The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the "agentur" of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion…We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time."
Albert Pike - Confederate General - 33 Degree Mason - 1871

http://www.sspx-schism.com/Pike.htm#Three%20World%20Wars

A right is a freedom to act morally without asking permission; a privilege is a freedom to act morally but only after permission has been granted by some government entity.
The human rights that the individual whishes to protect are simple in nature, and include the right to life, liberty, and property. These three rights are in essence only one right: the right to life.
Governments do not need to take man's life to kill him. Governments can remove man's right to property or the freedom to produce the property needed to maintain his life. A government that restricts man's ability to keep what he produces (his property) has an equal ability to kill a man a surely as a government that takes his life wantonly (such as in the case of Germany).
Liberty is the only thing you can not have unless you are willing to give it to others
Liberty is defined as rights with responsibilities. Its opposite, License, is defined as rights with no responsibilities. Another word for license would be Anarchy or a situation where there are no rules, rights, or privileges. The strong devour the weak; the powerful destroy the powerless.
Those who love freedom must recognize that others have equal rights to their freedom as well and that only by recognizing this fact will all be totally free. That means others must restrict their freedom to harm others, or none will be free to enjoy their rights to life, liberty, and property.
No individual nor any group of individuals has the right to take the life, liberty, or property of another individual or group of individuals. There is no question that any individual, or group of individuals ,has the ability to violate the rights of any individual. The question being discussed here is whether or not the violator has the right to do so. If each individual has the right to his life, liberty, and property, and no one has the right to take these rights, then it follows that man must have the right to protect his rights. This is called right to self defense. Each individual has this right in equal proportion to any other individual.
Men create governments when they pool their individual rights to self defense to create an agency that has the collective right to protect both the individual and the collective body of individuals. Men can only grant government those rights they themselves have. If an individual does not have a right, it is not possible for that individual to grant that right to government. Government can only have those rights that each individual has.
If the majority votes to take the minority property, what is it called? It is called a Democracy!
Just imagine the public outcry should one of America's charitable institutions choose to collect their revenues through the use of coercion:" Our needs are more than you wish to give voluntarily. We will take what we need."
Every person so wringed could expect that the force of government would be used to require the charitable institution to return the stolen property. That is one of the functions of government: to right a wrong such as the taking of property by force.
Notice that in such questions as are decided by a majority vote, that whatever the majority decides is what the entirety gets. Notice that there is no question as to whether or not what the majority
wants is right or wrong: the majority rules!

A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. CONVENING A CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION (CON-CON)WOULD ALLOW THE REPLACEMENT OF OUR CONSTITION WITH THE NEW STATES CONSTITUTION REMOVING OUR RIGHTS AND REPLACING THEM WITH PRIVLEDGES, 50 STATES WOULD BECOME 10 REGIONS WITH THE GOVENORS APPOINTED BY THE PRESIDENT. A constitutional convention would be the death of the United States Constitution in any recognizable form. Our founding fathers were the closest to the truth and common sense. Leave it alone.

Who in his right mind would want our present gaggle of idiots, thieves, liars, crooks, swindlers, bankers, scam artists and extortionists trying to redefine who we are as a people and a nation.

I would agree with Don. Though a concon would be nice in a perfect world, how would you go about firing the current government? You'd have to get all the politicians from local up through federal to leave...and they won't leave their money and power willingly.

I, too, believe there will be an economic crash long before we could begin solutions to the problem of human nature. It will be a form of shock therapy and not everyone will make it. If Bushco attacks Iran, our future will be even bleaker. But prepare as you can, and LOCALIZE. fORM COMMUNITIES of like minded people who have the human(e) skills to make life in the community a community affair. We don't have much time.

Um, 'scuse...

One can hardly fail to notice from the postings on this matter how many misconceptions do seem indeed to squat like tenacious vagabonds in the hearts and minds of many the poster, yup. Maybe it is pro-grade counterblogging (aka "PAID TROLL") at work; maybe it is a failure of civics education in Middle Schools. (Heaven help all the Rest of Us if it is BOTH.) Either way, though, the correction is as follows:

The Convention that is mandated in such cases as We the People of the United States of America have fallen into is NOT, strictly speaking (for there is much loose talk) a "Constitutional Convention". To preserve, protect and defend the very currency of the very word itself, and all that it stands for in every genuine sense, though, let us call it as it is indeed readily well-construed under Article Five of that most sacred of our national treasures from 'Way Back Then: A "Constitutional AMENDMENT Convention".

Under Article V, NO part of the BODY of this our transparently brilliant, living blueprint for an enduring, mutually beneficial (and thus LAWFUL) social contract between Citizen and State is up for rewriting at all, so kindly just DO stop shrieking such nonsense and get it straight now, kindly do! Let's have an end to the confusion, once and for all. This is serious work, sure as Mister "S. Hoyer" (for he disowned his given name to us savage kiddies, poor guy!) taught me my normal civics, back in Junior High, many years back.

Um, Mister Johnny Cash had a wildly popular song once, all about someone with a deliberately wonky name, too. Think it was a "Boy Named Sue". I think that song's lyrics apply to many, I do.

Now get this: Under King George 1 1/2 of the USA (aka "Number 43") and his thoroughly evil (also self-anointed) Grand Vizier "Deadeye Dick" Cheney, the Constitution has already been dismissed, disfigured, disowned, disingenuized over, tortuously distorted, and utterly disrespected by the CheneyBushCo War Industries Group. THAT krue is thus by definition the ENEMY WITHIN. The "ENEMY DOMESTIC" of the normal American Oath of Office.

Sorry to have had to to utter the clue, friends. But there is no apologizing for the truth. By them boyz' endarkell'd lights, y'see, folk such as I are already writ up as being some kind of non-Geneva-designated "Enema Rebootants" or somesuch, entirely worthy of rendition and torture with No Habeas Corpus in sight, just for having spoken so on the Internet at all. (Yo, hiya', General Hayden! How's terrorwar biz a-boomin' these days yo? Got hearts and minds yet, guy? Who owns YOURS?)

Now kindly do listen up: Only AMENDMENTS to the US Constitution ever go on the table under Article V. This is the Normal Feedback Loop that anyone with a functional sense of systematics will understand at a glance is absolutely necessary to fulfill the entirety of the Great Scheme.

This is what Ben "Poor Richard" Franklin referred to, I do declare, in response to the query immediately following the Signing of the Constitution at Independence Hall. Someone in the crowd asked, "What manner of Government have you given us?" or words to that effect. By the surviving accounts of all present, Franklin replied, "A republic, if you can keep it."

Historical Perspective: We the People lost our grip on that Republic at the time of that famously exclusive train ride which marked the formation of the Federal Reserve Bank corporation (a privately owned financial institution to this day, despite the deceptive name) by the nation's leading financiers and industrialists of the day, imho. (Thunderous applause here and there, too.)

That was the first real criminal slash put to the gown on Lady Liberty's now-ravaged body, I think. (It'll do for now.) A government of men and their money was seeded in the dead of that night and literally railroaded into being, rather than the one of law that our Founding Fathers struggled to provide us with.

Point: We the People of these United States have lost our grip on our beloved Republic due to absence (indeed, apparent withholding!) of lawfully due and utterly normal Article V process. And yes, we just might have a clear notion, figuratively speaking, of just who under Heaven ('WAY under!) is standing day and night with their hoof on the hose, kinking off the normal flow with nods, winks, nudges, and plenty "K Street Baksheesh" bolstered with plenty of Mad Ave Kool-Aid®, like as not, into the bargain.

Fools always think they can come off the better in any bargain with that one. Big "WHEEE!" ridin' down; long walk back. (Got sneakers?)

RED PILL time!

We do not bargain with nor compromise any part of ourselves with that one, I say. We need no more of that, I aver. "Impossible Standard", some do shriek? Oh well. So then kindly DO stop shrieking; we hear your shrieking already. IT is the same as always. But DO sit down now, o ye shriekers, shush up awhile, and just watch us dance! (Sweet music indeed.)

So: Those reader/bloggers who "get" or "dig" or "scan with" or "grok" the point and the drift of this rambling, funny-hatted discourse just might find the company @ HTTP://www.FOAVC.org agreeable. All who will come to the aid of their country in the most basic of ways against all terrorstorm all over the Telly-Vision may now turn their own hearts and minds to starting up this somewhat cranky tho' both lawful and peaceable (suggest, "PEACE-ENABLING") process by writing their own Representatives in the House.

Ask them straight-up where they themselves really stand re Article V Constitutional Amendment conventions.

Heaven knows, you deserve the truth. Just like everybody else. Let's have 'em all on record. (Gotta' LOVE a nano-database!)

There's a fine start-um-out form letter on the blog at the www.FOAVC site - we all have plenty paper and ink, envelopes and stamps, PLUS the Googles and the Internets - let's hang this one together afore they come out in our streets in force with their spankin' new mil-spec Microwave Pain Ray Technical Vehicles (need tinfoil, Bro'? Good for the Faraday shielding!) just to oh yes they will if they ever just oh nevermind reject terror just stop blockading here we go.

A constitutional convention is the worst thing that can possilby happen to our country. We have the best constitution imaginable, all we need is to force the political hacks in office to stick to it instead of ignoring it.

Any new constitutional convention will be run by the powers-that-be and will totally re-define us as a nation and as individual persons. The power and money elites who run the country would like nothing better. That would give them the power to totally and completely control the people. There would no longer be a United States of America. Who knows what we would end up with.

The elites are already trying to force a new constitution down our throats with the North American Union and a new currency, the Amero. A new con-con would put a huge smile on their faces.

For God's sake, don't ever allow that!

Ready or not

The supreme law of the land, the Constitution, requires a Convention for proposing Amendments to the Constitution to be held when 2/3 of the states apply; and all 50 have, 567 times, well over 300 since the 60's.

The People are ready, the spineless quislings pretending to be "public servants" and our "representatives" apparently are not. A real good question for all your representatives, especially those like Feingold, Leahy, Kucinich and Paul who demonstrate integrity on many other issues, is why they haven't obeyed their Oath of Office and worked to make this happen. All these people and the other 431 members of Congress were served in Bill Walker's 2004 lawsuit, which went to the Supreme Court and in October, 2006 was denied Certiorari (they refused to hear it), despite the extreme Constitutional significance. The Courts have ruled that "the government" and members of Congress are above the law; all our Rights guaranteed by the Constitution, are not protected by the Constitution at all, according to what the Establishment courts have decreed. That they continue with a pretense of Constitutional government is testimony to how afraid they are of the People's power; they're getting away with this only because not enough people have yet found out and organized to make a difference.

Note: they are not afraid of violent opposition; they have the US military and national Guard, posse comitatus was eliminated with Warner's 2006 defense authorization, NSPD-51 declares the President can declare martial law and suspend the Constitution based on his whim, etc., etc.- what they are afraid of is public opinion; that's why they lie so much and try to avoid light being shed on their activities, and invest billions of dollars a year in "manufacturing consent".

And, not that it matters because this is a peremptory requirement for Congress to call a Convention for proposing Amendments (according to Article 5 of the US Constitution), but the idea of a "runaway" convention is disinfo; no Amendment becomes part of the Constitution until it's ratified by 3/4 of the states. The Republocrats have seen fit to propose many amendments themselves; why should they deny the People, from whose will they derive legitimate power, the opportunity to propose Amendments?

Article5, US Constitution:

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.
