An Occupational Safety and Health Administration Officer at the Trade Center reported a fire truck 10 feet below the ground that was still burning two weeks after the Tower collapsed, "its metal so hot that it looked like a vat of molten steel."
So this would suggest one of two scenarios.
That someone planted the same explosives which is credited with the molten metal in all the fire trucks in NYC then detonated these for just the trucks who were at the scene for no apparent reason.
Or you just realised this molten metal wasn't caused by explosives.
