Government Apologists, 9/11 and Empire

The government could not have foreseen the 9/11 attacks.

(Actually, the attacks were very foreseeable.)

Maybe the attacks were foreseeable, but at least the government minimized the severity of the attacks.

(Actually, the Director of the U.S. "Star Wars" space defense program in both Republican and Democratic administrations, who was a senior air force colonel who flew 101 combat missions, stated that "If our government had merely done nothing, and allowed normal procedures to happen on that morning of 9/11, the twin towers would still be standing, and thousands of dead Americans would still be alive. Indeed, many high-level military leaders, intelligence officers and scientists think that the government's actions made the attacks more successful).

Maybe the government didn't minimize the severity of the attacks, but at least it fully investigated what went wrong.

(Actually, the 9/11 Commission and other government investigations have been blatant attempts to whitewash the truth)

Maybe the government didn't fully investigate what went wrong, but at least it hasn't launched any wars based upon false ideas about 9/11.

(Actually, the government intentionally lied about a connection between Saddam Hussein and 9/11, which was one of the main justifications for the Iraq war. Moreover, the entire "war on terror" is based upon false statements about what happened on 9/11).

Well, at least the government is giving people accused of participating in the 9/11 crimes a fair trial.

(Actually, those in the know say that the trials have been rigged to prevent the possibility of acquittal.)

Well . . . uh . . . at least America is the world's only superpower.

(Actually, we've squandered the nation's treasure on unnecessary and counterproductive wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere, which have done nothing but turn a couple of billion people against us. China is just biding its time until America is broke. The government's handling of 9/11 and related events has sold us down the river. )
