Are the Wheels Coming Off the Government's 9/11 Myth?

The 9/11 Commission Report states:
"[This report relies] heavily on information obtained from captured al-Qaida members . . . . Our access to them has been limited to the review of intelligence reports . . . . We submitted questions for use in the interrogations, but had no control over whether, when, or how questions of particular interest would be asked. Nor were we allowed to talk to the interrogators so that we could better judge the credibility of the detainees and clarify ambiguities in the reporting."

One of the primary architects of the 9/11 Commission Report, Ernest May, said in May 2005:

The only point on which I fault Kean, Hamilton, and the other commissioners is their reluctance ever to challenge the CIA's walling off Al Qaeda detainees. The agency gave us all interrogation reports bearing on September 11. It even put to the detainees some questions sent them by commission staff. But the CIA refused to permit any direct access either to the detainees or to the interrogators and their interpreters. We never had full confidence in the interrogation reports as historical sources.
Given that the Commission could not even speak with the interrogators about what the alleged detainees said, let alone the detainees themselves, it is not surprising that even the Commissioners did not have confidence in the veracity of the interrogation reports.

Now that the CIA has revealed that it did film videos of the interrogations, but lied to the Commission about the existence of videotapes, and that it destroyed the tapes, even the co-chairs of the Commission, Kean and Hamilton, admit that the whole thing was a farce, and that the government obstructed justice. Here's Lee Hamilton:
"Did they obstruct our inquiry? The answer is clearly yes," says Lee Hamilton, who co-chaired the 9/11 Commission, in the wake of reports the CIA destroyed videotapes of interrogations of two al-Qaida suspects. "Whether that amounts to a crime, others will have to judge," adds Hamilton.
Chairman Thomas Kean said the CIA's destruction of the videotapes "hampered the panel's investigation into the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington". He also said "They told us we had everything they had on the detainees .... You don't expect not to be told the truth, but we weren't told the truth."

As previously reported, the Commission's executive director said that the Commission had requested interrogation videos, and the Commission's general counsel said that destruction of the tapes amounted to obstruction of justice.

While the mainstream media is studiously ignoring the deeper issues raised by the destruction of the tapes, there are signs that truth may be slowly rising to the surface after having been held underwater for a long time.

For example, while ignoring the real players behind 9/11, even Huffington Post and Digg- which normally avoid any story questioning 9/11 -- have picked up on the possibility that the tapes were destroyed because they showed that people other than a guy on dialysis living in a cave and his 19 pals were behind the 9/11 attacks.

Are the wheels are coming off the government's 9/11 myth?

Let us hope the wheels are coming off. Nothing short of the exposure of the perpetrators of this crime will awaken the public to the absolute need for the immediate impeachment of this criminal administration. I believe that 9/11 may be their achilles heel. If you will note that Keith Olbermann remains on the air after a series of tirades against Bush and Cheney,
while Rosie O'Donnell was gone in three weeks after once mentioning 9/11. Obviously this is the one thing they will not tolerate. Thank you for your contribution to the effort to get to the 9/11 truth.

Excuse me for being so paleo-Constitutional here, but the picture you paint is one of the commissioners' complicity in torture. They were frustrated, too, that they had not direct access to detainees. But, as part of the process, they claim to have put questions to them.

The only process visible here is a barbaric one, in which those charged with explaining the events of 9/11 (by family members of the 9/11 dead, and by the public who were the intended witnesses of the spectacle) are participants in a system in which the first principles of the Republic are violated. We are a nation whose founders remembered the history of the Star Chamber and the violations of habeas corpus (enshrined in Magna Carta) by the British crown. We are also charged by our inheritance to remember the lawlessness of monarchs, their tyrannical refusal to accept legal restraints on their actions.

That the tapes are said to have been destroyed is made the focus here, as elsewhere. Speculation is that these tapes recorded exculpatory evidence for the detainees, else why destroy them. But few observe that until those tapes were destroyed, most officials were unconcerned about the process of their creation, least of all the 9/11 Commission, which actually supplied questions for the torturers to apply during their various methods. In other words, the Commission assumed the guilt of the detainees and added to their burdens a few hours or days of apparently fruitless questioning.

The high dudgeon of the establishment over the destruction of the tapes is window-dressing, a fake fight. It means that a new age has arrived, and it is a dark one, not because terrorists attacked us, but because when we act, it is right. We have embraced the concept that might makes right, and it is now official.

Whether or not the torture is recorded and whether or not the recordings are destroyed, goes to the issue of whether the crimes can be prosecuted in the future, not to the truth of the matters asserted during the interrogations. One could never rely on their truth because of the very methods employed. That is a given. So to speculate on what was said is simply a polarizing issue between left and right. It leaves the prisoners and the interrogators in the same relationship to each other. It keeps the light levels very low, which is how our establishment likes them, giving them the freedom to create more commissions and more wars.

Hello all,

They don't want you to know that 9/11 was a FALSE FLAG terror attack. How do we really know they even interrogated anyone, hm? Do you just take the governments word for it blindly? Look up the term FALSE FLAG and do your research--you will be floored. America has been doing them in the past and you can't tell me anything different--I've many sources and evidence. Although OPERATION MOCKINGBIRD (research this term also and you'll begin to rise and shine) would have you believe differently. The Matrix has you. Wake up, Neo.
