New Letter to John Conyers

The 9/11 Truth Action folks have written a new letter to Congress to reflect the momentum building towards impeachment, Bush's recent attempts to again link Saddam Hussein with 9/11, and new statements by former high-ranking government officials about September 11, 2001.

Dear Representative:

Thank you for your efforts in investigating the Administration's misrepresentations regarding weapons of mass destruction and false rationales for invading Iraq. I support you 100% in your efforts.

You are now starting to realize that the Administration's claims concerning weapons of mass destruction were false, and were merely being made in order to justify a pre-planned military campaign. We attempted to alert Congress to this fact. However, Congress did not listen to us, and instead optimistically and hopefully believed our Commander-in-Chief and his cabinet.

We are writing to alert you to an even greater deception which the Administration has carried out in order to justify a pre-planned military agenda. I am certain that if you have your staffers spend a little of their admittedly scarce time examining this information, they will verify that this issue represents a far greater threat to American security and our constitutional form of government than the Administration's misrepresentations concerning Iraq.

Specifically, President Bush has repeatedly attempted to falsely link Saddam Hussein with 9/11. Not only is this claim patently untrue and an impeachable offense in itself (lying to the Congress and American people about issues of national security and war), but it belies deeper and more fundamental truths.

Indeed, former high-level U.S. and allied government officials have recently and publicly stated that the 9/11 attack was not as it seemed. Moreover, firefighters, rescue workers and other extremely credible witnesses have discredited the Administration's version of 9/11.

Investigating or even impeaching Bush and other high-level officials based solely on misrepresentations concerning weapons of mass destruction would be the single biggest mistake since authorizing President Bush's use of force in Iraq.

Remember that Bush's other stated reason for the Iraq war was 9/11 – specifically, Saddam Hussein's connection to that terrible event. Failing to investigate 9/11 in connection with impeachment investigations and proceedings would be leaving the "smoking gun" on the table. More importantly, the murder of 3,000 American citizens is the single biggest act of treason by any U.S. Administration.
